Earth Equity Advisors Re-Certified as a B Corporation
Earth Equity Advisors, Asheville’s only investment management firm dedicated to Sustainable, Responsible, and Impact investing (SRI), recently completed its recertification as a B Corporation. The certification process takes place every three years and ensures that the principles espoused by B Labs are incorporated into the company’s processes and operations.
B Labs examines various parts of the business related to all stakeholders, not just shareholders. They look at:
- Governance
- Workers
- Community
- Environment
- Customers
Earth Equity’s score increased by 15% over the 2016 score from 107.4 to 123.3. The firm showed gains especially in the worker category as enhanced employee benefits were implemented. EEA continues to score best in the customers category. “It’s especially important to us that we continue to score high for customers,” Earth Equity CEO, Peter Krull said. “Without our valued clients, we would not have had the growth that we’ve had over the past several years and the impact that entails.” Earth Equity Advisors has nearly doubled the client assets that it manages over the past three years.
In addition, adding enhanced employee benefits “ensures that we’re taking care of those who take care of our clients,” Earth Equity COO Neill Yelverton said. “As a living wage certified employer, we believe in the importance of making sure all of our employees can thrive and have both financial and health insurance security.” The firm also supports the community as a 1% For The Planet signatory, donating one percent of revenues to environmental non-profits.
The firm has also been selected as a Best for the World B Corporation for the last four years straight. This means that Earth Equity performs in the top ten percent of the more than 3100 B Corps worldwide.
Earth Equity is one of twelve Certified B Corps in Western North Carolina and is a part of B Local Asheville & WNC. To learn more about B Corps or becoming a B Corp, contact Earth Equity or B Local.
